Multiple People Shot in Drive By Shooting in Las Vegas

A 17-year-old suspect has been apprehended by Las Vegas police in connection with a shooting incident that left two young teenagers injured.

The shooting took place around 3:55 p.m. on May 9 in the vicinity of the 8900 block of Jamie Lee Ave, near the intersection of Elkhorn Rd. and Durango Dr., as stated in an LVMPD report. Upon receiving the report, officers swiftly responded to the scene and discovered that two juveniles had sustained gunshot wounds. Both victims were promptly transferred to UMC Trauma for medical treatment.

As the investigation progressed, detectives gathered information suggesting that the victims had been outside a residence when a passing vehicle fired multiple rounds, striking them. Through their diligent efforts, investigators identified Hakeem Collett, a 17-year-old individual, as a suspect in the case. It was revealed that Collett was already in custody at the Clark County Detention Center on unrelated charges. Subsequently, he was rebooked on multiple felony charges, including two counts each of battery with the use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder. Additionally, he faces charges related to owning or possessing a firearm as a prohibited person.
