On 27 June, French police shot and killed a 17-year-old at a traffic stop. Nahel M, a student aspiring to be a mechanic, died shortly after, despite emergency care. This is the third traffic stop shooting in France in 2023. In 2022, 13 people died in traffic stop shootings by the police. In the current protests, over 40,000 police have been deployed across Paris to control the riots and violence over the teen's killing.
