Should Christians consume alcoholic drinks?

The Bible seems to have a conflicting view on whether Christians should consume alcohol or not. In the New Testament, Jesus turned water to wine at a wedding in Cana, but in the Old Testament, drunkenness was considered akin to stupidity.
