At least 17 people died, including three children, after a gas leak at an informal settlement in Boksburg, South Africa, on Wednesday, July 5, local media reported. A further 11 people were taken to hospital, Times Live said. Local officials initially reported the death toll from the leak to be 24; however, this number was revised after emergency services arrived on the scene, Times Live said.
