Firefighters killed in line of duty responding to Newark ship fire

Two firefighters were killed in the line of duty while responding to a fire on a vehicle cargo ship docked at Port Newark overnight on July 5-6, Newark Fire Chief Rufus Jackson said. The fire was reported at 9:30 pm local time, Jackson said. It involved multiple vehicles and started on the 10th deck of the ship before spreading upwards.
