Went for a hike in the jungle... GOT VERY LOST

I got lost hiking to a secluded beach in Costa Rica. What was supposed to be a quick easy hike to a gorgeous Costa Rican beach, turned into a terrifying experience. No supplies. No idea where we're going. Deep in the jungle. How will we make it back?

We are on a mission to visit 9 countries in 9 months, this is our van life adventure through Central America. Costa Rica is country number 6 of our van life adventure and you'd think we'd have learned by now to be smart about hiking in remote places. We took for granted that this hike in Costa Rica would be incredibly muddy (even though it's dry season) and that it would take hours and hours to get to a beach we could snorkel at. This is not how it was supposed to be and now I can't find my way out of the jungle in Costa Rica. That's why today hiking to a secluded beach goes wrong.
