The White House issued its first comment Wednesday on a federal court’s July 4th ruling temporarily restricting more than 40 Biden administration officials from communicating with social media companies about censorship measures. "We are going to continue to promote responsible actions to protect public health, safety, and security when confronted by challenges like a deadly pandemic and foreign attacks on our elections,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a briefing. Jean-Pierre said the White House believes social media platforms have a responsibility “to take action or to take account” the effects their platforms have on Americans and act accordingly.
