Prior to the Waco siege, there was another disaster that was brought on by the United States government that attacked American citizens over a petty gun charge. In this case, it was Randy Weaver and his family at Ruby Ridge. They were involved in standoff with the FBI, ATF, and US Marshalls. This resulted in the deaths of Randy's wife, son, and dog.

To fully understand what happened in Waco, I believe it is important to know what happened at Ruby Ridge.
