Philip Lynott (August 20, 1949 – January 4, 1986) was an Irish musician, lead singer and bassist of the hard rock band Thin Lizzy.

A personality apart in the musical landscape of the 1970s and 1980s, he marked the world of rock and hard rock music with the finesse and intelligence of his texts and his musical arrangements.
He was keen to write texts which, far from the clichés of the genre, evoked realistic scenes of life such as loneliness, adolescence "Renegade", or even the history of Ireland "Emerald, Black Rose", the condition of blacks "Black Boy in the Corner, Ode to a Black Man", the massacre of the Indians "Genocide".
