Affirmative Action Had To Go. And So Does The Radical Reactions from the Left
When former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor voted in favor of affirmative action, she stated, "The Court expects that 25 years from now, the use of racial preferences will no longer be necessary to further the interest approved today."
In a 6-3 and 6-2 decision, the Supreme Court found that the "race-conscious" admission policies of the University of North Carolina and Harvard violate the Constitution. With that, affirmative action came to an end.
What has not ended is the extreme reactions from the political Left, which range for hysteria to near total insanity. Cornell Law Professor William Jacobson explains the law and the decision, as well as the politics of the reaction and what many universities will do next.
