Mascha Orel, Founder of We for Humanity, on the Northern Light Convention

I am Mascha Orel, born in Ukraine, more precisely in the USSR. I am a descendant of Holocaust refugees and therefore survivors. I studied civil engineering, but after further education I decided to do project management and computer training.

I am a child of totalitarian dictatorship, thus someone who is not facing a new horror, but rather returning to where I never wanted to be again. In the winter of 2020, I recognized the state propaganda and was shocked by the clumsy obviousness and aggressiveness, about the speed at which people were taught docility and, above all, superiority to the mechanisms of brainwashing that I know from my homeland.

Disoriented at first, I said No when the anti-Semitism club was increasingly instrumentalized against dissidents. In the spring of 2021 I founded We for Humanity, a free international association of Holocaust survivors and their descendants. Since then, we have been messengers who still have reasonable freedom of speech, and we have been advocates for those who are unjustly vilified as anti-Semites.
