“By order of our brigade commander they mined the canal behind our backs,” – this is an interview with the occupiers from the 57th motorized riflemen brigade of the russian federation, who were captured by the fighters of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 3rd SABr near Bakhmut on June 24, 2023.

They got in the war through mobilization. According to them, they were hiding for a long time. When they were "caught" – the intimidation with a prison term began, and their relatives convinced them too: it is better to go and kill Ukrainians than to sit in jail.

“They handed me the summons, told that I had 2 hours to pack up. if I didn’t show up, I would get myself at least 8 years in prison. And besides, my elderly relatives, my mother-in-law said: "Do not spoil your child's future. Do not sign yourself up for a criminal case,” – the occupier explains. “They put a stamp in a person’s military ID that they are an enemy of the state. A red stamp. And then that person will no longer be able to get a job, nothing,” – the second POW adds.

At the military enlistment office, they promised that it would be possible for the occupiers to sit out "in the rear on the radio", but it turned out as it always does: nothing was taught to them and they were thrown into the trenches at the front line.

“During all the "field training exercises" that we had, most of the time, we would just be sleeping somewhere in a glade. We would just come there, place a duffel bag on the ground, lie down on it, and off to sleep. At the training ground, we were literally once given a grenade to throw. We fired once or twice, 15 rounds each. No tactical training, nothing like that,” – the POW states.

The command was not interested in the fate of its soldiers, it treated them like cattle – the occupiers complain. To ensure that they wouldn’t surrender, they were intimidated with stories about the terrible torture that awaits them in Ukraine if they lay down their weapons. They were commanded over the radio.

“The brigade commander said: “Talk to me silently. God forbid you retreat - I will shoot you.” By order of our brigade commander they mined the canal behind our backs. They never even came to the positions in person. They didn't care how we were doing. And, there were rumors that the brigade commander was constantly drinking,” – the occupiers tell.
About “learning” from the wagnerites, the possibility of a mutiny in the army and whether a revolution is possible in the russian federation – hear the story of the captured russians.
