Parque Botânico do Castelo, Portugal
Inaugurated on September 13, 2009, the Botanical Park of the Castle, in Crestuma, is the recovery of a farm that was in ruins, acquired and restored by the Municipality.
Part 1 of the walking video tour starts at the parking plaza set on the shore of the Douro River (here: https://goo.gl/maps/34dwFEMQUaZ3Jt4B9). Have a snack or a cup of coffee at the local restaurant before walking to the park entrance.

Despite its botanical significance, the park is open for archaeological fieldwork.
The spatial arrangement of this new green space is peculiar, as it is based on terraces. The higher you climb, the more enchanting the landscape becomes over the Douro River that flows below.
The species that visitors find are mainly ash trees, cork oaks, gilbard and, among others, several native oaks. In the shade of the strawberry trees, there are also several endemic species, such as the endemic plant from Northern Portugal called Omphalodes nitida.
