New York Mayor Eric Adams recently lashed out at an elderly woman during a community meeting about the city's escalating rents. The woman, expressing her valid concerns over rent hikes, was met with a tirade from Adams. Instead of addressing the issue at hand, the Mayor attacked this citizen, accusing her of treating him like a slave on a plantation. It's becoming increasingly apparent that Mayor Adams, seemingly controlled by corporate interests, cares more about satisfying big businesses than he does about the everyday struggles of New Yorkers. His unwillingness to take action against sky-high rents shows a disregard for his constituents. Adams must remember he's a public servant, and the respect he seeks must be earned through action, not demanded.
