TRAVELING LIGHT

I have traveled around the world several times and in multiple countries. I have gone by airplane, train, automobile, boat, motorcycle, and tricycle. I have even walked a fair amount of distance to get to my destination.
In all the miles I've traveled and all the miserable places I've endured as I traveled, I have learned a few things that have helped me over the years.
On my first international trip, I loaded up suitcases like I was leaving town for good. I tried to imagine every possible problem or activity and made room for it in my three bags.
Not realizing the mode of transportation that I would encounter and not having a valet to help carry my abundance of luggage, I had trouble. I didn't open two of my suitcases on this first trip.
If you know human nature very well, you're probably already guessed that I didn't learn just from one trip. But after a few of those experiences, I learned to travel light. Believe me running through the airport in Japan trying to catch my flight home with the help of an attendant, carrying one of my bags as I drag the others, is no way to travel.
When our team went to Europe, we had perfected our traveling gear into a tiny satchel.
The Scriptures tell us to lay aside every weight and sin that does so easily beset us and run the race that is before us. Professional runners shave their tennis shoes of excess rubber to lose that much weight.
The scriptures also tell us that the cares of life are weight to us. And they ask us to cast our cares on the Lord.
I encourage you to unpack the extra weight you carry because Jesus said, come on to me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. He continued by saying take my yoke upon you, for it is light.
So how about it? Are you ready to unpack and run the race like the gazelle fast and furious?
