Who would have thought that Lloyd James Austin III, who retired from the armed forces in March 2016, would move into big politics after 40 years of service in the US Army? However, in 2021, the post of US Secretary of Defense was taken by a retired general who became the first African-American and the first professional military man to head the Pentagon.

Austin's candidacy passed through the Senate without any problems, as it was really difficult to find fault with his track record. Moreover, Lloyd delighted the establishment with the designation of America's main enemies-Russia and China.
