➡️ What is Coronary Artery Disease?
As we briefly mentioned, it's a disease that results in a blockage of the coronary arteries and is usually caused by plaque build-up which is referred to as atherosclerosis. This reduces the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart which has dangerous effects on the cardiovascular system. In fact, it is the most common type of heart disease and is the leading cause of death in both males and females in the United States. If left untreated, coronary artery disease can result in a myocardial infarction — aka a heart attack.

➡️ Signs and Symptoms of Coronary Artery Disease:
▪ Chest pain
▪ Chest tightness or heaviness
▪ Dyspnea
▪ Diaphoresis
▪ Lightheadedness
▪ Pain or discomfort in the arms or shoulders

▪ Electrocardiogram
▪ Chest x-ray
▪ CT scan
▪ Echocardiogram
▪ Exercise stress test
▪ Cardiac catheterization
▪ Coronary angiography
