➡️ What is Airway Clearance Therapy?
It’s a form of therapy that uses noninvasive techniques to help mobilize and remove secretions in order to improve gas exchange. Our airways are lined with ciliated epithelial cells that help move secretions towards the larger airways so that they can be swallowed or coughed up for removal. This means that the cough reflex is one of the most important protective reflexes in the entire body. But there are times when a patient doesn't have an adequate cough reflex which causes mucus and secretions to accumulate. Also, there are certain diseases and conditions that cause the body to produce too much mucus as well.

▪ Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) Therapy
▪ Autogenic Drainage
▪ High-Frequency Chest Wall Compression (HFCW)
