➡️ Bronchoalveolar Lavage Definition
Bronchoalveolar lavage is a technique that is used to obtain specimens from the alveolar region of the lungs for diagnostic purposes. It involves the instillation of a saline solution into the airways of the lungs through a bronchoscope. Then the liquid is suctioned back out of the lungs where it can be further analyzed for the diagnosis of certain pulmonary diseases.
