Journey is an American rock group founded in 1973 in San Francisco around Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie, former musicians of the group Santana. The height of their commercial success came between 1978 and 1987, after which the band temporarily broke up. The group then reformed in the 1990s with a succession of singers.
According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Journey has sold 47 million albums in the United States, making them the 28th best-selling group. Worldwide, the band's record sales have exceeded 60 million, making them one of the biggest sellers in music history. In 2005, a USA Today poll named Journey the fifth best American rock band. Their songs became rock staples and are still played on radio stations around the world.
