Use Any BlueTooth Controller with the N64! Even SWITCH ONLINE!

One of the things about the N64 is the fact that, while some love the controller, many do not. The N64 was the last generation of systems from Nintendo that didn't have an OEM wireless controller option. Well, Blue Retro has a wireless Bluetooth option which 8BitMods has put into a handy case, and man, this is promising.

Blue Retro has been working on some really cool adapters to allow you to use wireless controllers with a number of different systems. I recently saw that they had plans to release an N64 Bluetooth adapter, and knowing how well the GameCube mod worked I wanted to pick one of these up. For around $30 this should let us use just about any wireless Bluetooth controller with the Nintendo 64. I am going to test this out with a number of different options, including the N64 online controller for the Nintendo Switch. Another cool thing, I believe this also has a built-in memory card, super cool!

The one thing I wanted to check out was whether or not the Switch Online N64 controller could be paired to the adapter. The Nintendo 64 wireless controller is a full-size Nintendo 64-style controller! This controller is designed to be the perfect way to explore 3D worlds that debuted on the Nintendo 64 system. The built-in rumble functionality for compatible games works perfectly, and it was designed to be used with the Nintendo Switch Online library of games But what if you could use it on an actual N64?

Well, in our initial tests, yes, this does work! That's right, you can use the Switch Online N64 controller with the actual N64!
