Rescued Owl From Barb Wire Fence #shorts

This is a juvenile great horned owl. He flew at high speed into a barb wire fence and actually wrapped himself around the strand. He was removed from the fence and taken to an animal rehabilitation center where he is as of the uploading of this video. He had a severely broken wing which has taken quite awhile to mend.

Before anyone makes any posts I need to make a few points:

1. It is a violation of federal law to possess these animals, their feathers or any of their parts. Understand that...only certain individuals and groups are allowed to possess these items; if you're not sure if you're allowed...you're probably not.

2. If you find these or any other animals injured, you need to call the local authorities, like game and fish, they will give you instructions on what to do.

3. This particular owl was pretty tired out when he was removed, so he was docile and not really looking for a fight. If you don't know much about owls, they are particularly ornery and they will ruin your day if they wish to. Approach them with extreme care and caution, preferably AFTER you contact the authorities.

4. If you find them wrapped around fence or any other item, the best way to remove them is to cut the fence and take that piece of fence to the rehabilitation center with the bird. Trying to unwind them from the fence can often make the injury worse and it could possibly turn the ire of the owl on you.

At some point I will post some video of this owl at the rehabilitation center and when he is released (they are supposed to contact us) I will post that video as well.
