Live from Paris on Saturday July 1, after officials ordered bus and tram services to be shut down over the weekend.

The measures follow days of riots in the capital after a teen was shot dead by the police.

The shooting itself took place in the Paris suburb of Nanterre on Tuesday. Police claimed the victim, a boy of Algerian descent identified as 'Nahel M', failed to comply with their order to stop his vehicle.

As many as 40,000 officers were deployed nationwide on Thursday night in an attempt to quell rioting while media outlets reported on Friday that over 800 people had been arrested.
