What does the word rapture mean?

Language is a funny thing; when you speak you want people to understand you. If you use the wrong words to describe your thoughts nobody will understand what you’re saying. With synonyms, colloquialisms and brogues, you can get lost even if you’re familiar with a language. When you translate from one language to another you run into a whole new set of problems.
Every language is different and the best way to understand it is to understand the culture of a language. So you ask yourself why would God let mans culture enter into His words to mankind in the Bible? There are many ways you could answer this question but I won’t pretend to know the mind of God.
There are some parts of the Bible that are literal and others are allegory and still others are symbolic. There are certain themes that reoccur over and over as types and similitudes. There are very specific dates and times given and yet other themes have no dates and seem to come out of nowhere. There are no contradictions and no mistakes. Only your understanding is misguided.
One reoccurring theme in the Bible is acrostics. My favorite is the number 7 that represents the perfection of YHVH. When it is used in prophesy it is rarely actually 7. It is a perfect number to be decided by YHVH and when He is ready to reveal it to you He will.

Most of the Hidden Manna will never be understood until you have a working knowledge of the manuscripts in their entirety. The third level of understanding is a mystery to most of the world. God has always preserved this level of understanding to the remnant throughout history. This is found in John 21:15 through 17.
Many Christians are stuck on this literal view of scripture. It’s hard for them to take the pages of the Bible and apply them to reality and relate them to the world around them. If reality doesn’t conform to their understanding of scripture they simply discard it. Christianity isn’t a religion it’s a reality and the way things really are. It doesn’t conform to your understanding of it, but the opposite.
One example of this is the age of the earth. Many can’t distinguish between a span of time which is called eon in Greek and time itself. This should be an elementary level of understanding but many Christians fail the test of time and dispensations of it. With the mountains of evidence all around them they still claim the earth is only 6000 years old. They fail to see the earth has been rearranged many times by our Father but it is still same the earth.
In my travels and interaction with Christians they can be some of the narrowest minded people on earth. Most of them know very little about the Bible and the faith they prescribe too. What is even more troubling to me is that most of them pose as if they are experts. Pastors are by far the worst.
For example I will focus on the word “rapture”. When you examine the literal meaning of the English word itself it has nothing to with the second coming or an appearing as they call it. Below is an example from the Webster’s dictionary.

Even Webster is confused by calling it the second coming when rapture teachers call it an appearing. As you should be able to see the word itself has nothing to do with the second coming or an appearing but it is a description of feelings of euphoria. To top it off the word is not found anywhere in scripture but the word joy is.

What is even more troubling is they associate the word rapture with the words “caught up” and the Greek word Harpadzo. Intense joy or euphoria has nothing to do with being caught up. They have high jacked the words caught up and Harpadzo and turned them into a circus side show.
These words should never be associated with each other when rightly dividing scripture. They have broken all the rules of hermeneutics and turned Gods word into a Hollywood d rated movie. It is just so fundamentally wrong on so many levels but yet most of the Christian church believes in this fairy tale.
The expression “Coming” Strong'’s Greek # 3952 parousia: a presence, a coming Original Word: παρουσία, ας, ἡ: parousia Phonetic Spelling: (par-oo-see'-ah) Short Definition: presence, a coming, arrival, advent Definition: (a) presence, (b) a coming, an arrival, advent, especially of the second coming of Christ. (parousía) is a "technical term with reference to the visit of a king or some other official, 'a royal visit' " (Souter) – "hence, in the NT, specifically of the Advent or Parousia of Christ"

Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man COMING in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
As you can see the words appearing and coming are used in the same verse to describe the second coming; If you come to somebody you will automatically appear to them.

This applies to the past present and future and not just the second coming

By all indications the word harpadzo describes the separation of the soul and spirit from the physical body as they are snatched away by force and go back to the Father in heaven. Not the physical body flying around in space and removed from the earth. When is the last time you saw a person fly around in the sky?
