SBC Family and Friends,

As we go through the historical event of the virgin birth we are dealing with why it is necessary that the Messiah be born of a virgin. Last week was the prophetic necessity. If God is who He says He is then He knows the future and can predict it. He predicted the virgin birth in several OT passages and the NT authors recognize and cite these passages as fulfilled in Jesus' birth.

This week we will study the legal necessity. This deals with the problems of sin and it's transmission. Usually people think only in terms of personal sin, but there is also imputed and inherited sin. Jesus had to avoid all three categories of sin to qualify to save us from our sin. The way He did it is a bit difficult to understand, but it is tied to the virgin birth.

We will discuss some of these difficulties and also some of the implications of the virgin birth as it relates to Him being sinless. There are a number of challenging implications. This is to be expected since Jesus is the most unique person in the world.

See the attached handout.

Grace to you,
Jeremy
