The term Bantu means "people."
The Bantu were originally agriculturalists-farmers, herders-and had technology that helped them to make iron from iron ore. At present, many tribes under the Bantu umbrella still practice subsistence farming.
There are approximately 500 tribes represented under the Bantu people across the continent from West Africa, East, Central and Southern Africa.
