Baguio is a highland city of 366,358 people (as of 2020) in the province of Benguet, Philippines. Due to its cool mountain weather relative to the rest of the country, it is considered the "Summer Capital of the Philippines." The city is abundant in pine trees, so it is nicknamed the City of Pines.

Baguio is designated a city independent from the province of Benguet, but it is virtually part of Benguet, and it is the province's and the Cordillera region's economic center. Some tourism advertisements in the city also point to adjacent La Trinidad, which is both officially and geographically in Benguet and serves as the province capital.

The city began as a hill station erected by Americans in the early 1900s. The zigzagging Kennon Road connects the city, which was designed by renowned American architect and urban designer Daniel Burnham. It was envisioned as the summer capital of the Philippines, which was then an American territory. It quickly became a favorite tourist destination for many Manila residents looking to escape the heat, noise, and throng of the city. The catastrophic Central Luzon earthquake in 1990 severely destroyed the city, but it has since recovered.
