DAY SIX: “Seeing The Multitudes”- (Matthew 5:1-2)- Simple Ideas For Complicated People

Good morning. Great is His faithfulness.

"SEEING THE MULTITUDES"

Matthew 5:1-2

 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

"Christ sees people far differently than we do. Throughout the Gospels we see a pattern in the way Jesus taught His disciples. Whenever He saw the multitudes, Jesus would reveal to the disciples what was on His heart for the people. Jesus wanted His disciples to share His love for the people."

We learn from the OT, that is was only a select few who were chosen to hear God directly. We see here in Matthew 5:1-2, Christ Who is God Incarnate is speaking to the "MULTITUDES" face to face. "THE MOUNTAIN" is a place is where divine action enters human history, a place where God reveals Himself to man. "SEATED" is the traditional Jewish position for teaching with authority. Some early Christian examples such St. John Chrysostom sat while the people stood. "OPENED HIS MOUTH" here that is emphasizing the teaching is "ONE WAY", that our Lord came to speak with authority, and the disciples were not to discuss or debate, but rather they were to only listen.

The Word of God is simple ideas for complicated people. Who are the complicated people well it's all of us, because we complicate even the simplest form of instructions. We should all strive to see the people, the "MULTITUDES" just as Christ saw them, see them with love, humility, compassion and mercy.

Greek word of the day- αὐτόματος autómatos, ow-tom'-at-os; from G846 and the same as G3155; self-moved ("automatic"), i.e. spontaneous:—of own accord, of self.

Mark 4:26-29

26 And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should [a]scatter seed on the ground, 27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. 28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. 29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
