I recently purchased the ESEE Izula II OD Green Knife with Sheath and I am extremely impressed. Straight out of the package, the knife was razor sharp and ready to use.
The micarta handles add a great aesthetic look and feel to the knife. At first, I was skeptical about the sheath, but it has a great positive snap and holds the knife securely.
As someone who is passionate about knives, I can say that this knife is now my go-to for everyday carry. The scales have a rough texture, but after using it, they wore down nicely.
I use this knife for a variety of tasks and it holds up excellently. The edge retention is fantastic and the steel/heat treat is top-notch. The scales add a great grip and are very comfortable to hold.
The knife even comes with stickers and an ambidextrous sheath, which is a great bonus. One thing I did was grind off the coating on the blade so that I can use it to strike a ferro rod.
This modification has proven to be very useful. I also paired this knife with a mini wood burning stove and it works great. On my scale, the knife weighs 90g (3.2oz) and the sheath weighs 20g (0.7oz).
A helpful tip I discovered was to glue a small piece of a matchbox striker surface to the outside of the sheath in case I ever need to light a match.
I also broke a couple of UCO weatherproof matches in half, wrapped them in duct tape, and used a small piece of bicycle tubing around the sheath to secure the matches.
Overall, I highly recommend the ESEE Izula II OD Green Knife with Sheath. It may seem unassuming, but it is incredibly versatile and well-made. The knife is perfect for everyday carry and a range of outdoor activities.
