In December of 1994, Mission to Mars was replaced with the soft opening of Walt Disney World's scariest attraction. ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter was Michael Eisner's solution to target the teenage demographic. This Tomorrowland attraction was very controversial for the family park. ExtraTERRORestrail Alien Encounter would run for a little over 8 years before being replaced by one of Disney's most successful franchises.
