KAI HAVERTZ: ARSENAL MAKES FIRST SIGNING OF THE SUMMER AS GERMAN ARRIVES AT EMIRATES FROM CHELSEA

Kai Havertz has joined Arsenal after a three-year spell with Chelsea. The Germany international, who scored the winner in the Champions League final for the Blues two years ago, becomes the Gunners' first summer signing. He departs after a difficult season at Stamford Bridge and will provide some competition and versatility to Mikel Arteta's ranks for next season.

The Gunners have completed their first signing of the summer transfer window after confirming the arrival of Germany international Kai Havertz on a big-money deal from Chelsea.

Arsenal has confirmed the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea as the versatile forward becomes the club's first arrival of the summer transfer window.

The Germany international, who is capable of playing in a variety of positions in attack as well as in an advanced midfield position, swaps Stamford Bridge for the Emirates Stadium following a rather mixed time in west London after moving to England from Bayer Leverkusen in September 2020.

Whilst he wrote his name into Chelsea history by scoring the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City, there is a strong argument that he's yet to fulfill his enormous potential and now that task falls upon the shoulders of Mikel Arteta.

Havertz will be reunited with former Blues teammate Jorginho - who made the same switch in the January transfer window - and increases Arsenal's options in attack that already consist of Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Eddie Nketiah.

Having featured for Germany in the international break, it remains to be seen when the 24-year-old will join up with his new teammates for pre-season training. Although even if he misses the training camp in Nuremberg at Adidas HQ he should be fine to travel with the squad to the United States of America for the pre-season tour.

In the States, the Gunners face an MLS all-stars team, Manchester United and Barcelona. They then return to London to take on Monaco in the Emirates Cup before facing Manchester City at Wembley in the Community Shield ahead of their Premier League opener at home to Nottingham Forest on August 12.
