Paris Police Chief Laurent Nunez told BFM TV in an interview Wednesday that the officer who shot and killed 17-year-old Nahel M. Tuesday used his firearm when the teenager refused to comply with his instructions during a traffic stop. Protests have erupted across the Paris region since the fatal traffic stop Tuesday morning, leading to the arrest of 31 rioters and the torching of 40 cars and multiple buildings. The officer has since been put into police custody and faces potential manslaughter charges.
