Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visits Mississauga, Ontario, to announce the launch of a $625-million infrastructure fund to help child-care providers renovate, retrofit and build new public and not-for-profit facilities. The fund was announced in the 2022 federal budget. The prime minister is joined by Karina Gould, the federal minister of families, children and social development. He faces questions from reporters on the proposed merger between Postmedia and Nordstar, and about a potential public inquiry on foreign interference. He is also asked about social media giant Meta's decision to end news access to Canadian users on Facebook and Instagram in response to Bill C-18, the government's Online News Act. The prime minister also comments on the future of Assembly of First Nations Chief RoseAnne Archibald and on Olivia Chow's Toronto mayoral election victory.
