In February 2023, the US Government authorized the sale of 20 M142 HIMARS launchers, 77 loaded rocket pods, ATACMS missile pods, and 17 support vehicles to the country. All of this artillery could belong to the Dutch for a sum of $670 million. And although they were much desired, the Netherlands rejected them. The reason for this decision was located about 3,000 miles away, in Israel. Israel makes some of the most advanced weapons and the country is one of the top ten largest exporters of arms in the world. Despite the invincibility the great American HiMARS has shown in recent months, within Isreal’s arsenal is a great rival of the HiMARS known as the PULS — an alternative that costs one-fifth the price of the HiMARS and would still fill its shoes impressively enough that the Dutch went for it instead.
