What Does it REALLY mean to accept Christ as Lord?

John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son.

Indeed, God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son. However, to receive salvation, one must abandon everything and have full faith in the Son.
