GOVERNMENT SPEND 63.6 BILLION SHILLINGS TO PROCURE TEXT BOOKS

Ministry of education and sports has invested a total of 63.6 billion shillings on procurement of textbooks to support implementation of the Revised Lower Secondary Curriculum.
State minister for primary education Moriku Kaducu says the books are being given to all schools regardless whether it is public or private.
Ministry of education and sports has embarked on countrywide distribution of textbooks for the Revised Lower Secondary Curriculum to cover 4,500 secondary schools –both public and private.
Government of Uganda is meeting the cost therefore; learners have been advised not to pay for these books.
13 suppliers are distributing the final batch of S.1and S.2 textbooks making a total of the targets 8.6 million copies for 19 subjects at a cost of 30.7 billion shillings.
15 suppliers have embarked on distribution of 6.9 million copies of S. 3 and S. 4 learner textbooks complete with teacher’s guides for the same curriculum at a cost of 32.9 billion shillings.
There have however been delays in delivering the textbooks.
