I am a Daiwa fan and the Saltist 8000 is an impressive reel. The power and drag are smooth, allowing me to target fish with precision. This reel can hold up to 950m of 50lb JDB casting braid.
I have noticed a decline in quality from Shimano products, and this Daiwa reel exceeds my expectations. The depth of the drag is impressive and allows me to dial it in perfectly.
The line retrieve is smoother than most reels in this price range, making it a great value. The materials used seem to be on par with the price point of this reel.
After a year of punishment, this reel still operates like new. Compared to other reels such as the Saragosa, Sustain, and Stradics, the Saltist offers superior value.
This reel is a bit heavy, which personally doesnt bother me, as it allows me to know I can rely on it. Overall, this is the best reel for its price range, even surpassing $400 reels in terms of quality.
