Video shows teen driver in stolen truck shooting at Georgia deputy during chase

A 16-year-old is facing a slew of charges after authorities in Georgia say he stole a truck and opened fire on a deputy during a chase.

On Tuesday, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office released dashcam video of the incident that happened back on June 22.

According to authorities, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on Highway 27 on a vehicle that was speeding. The driver of the vehicle sped off as the deputy exited his vehicle, prompting a pursuit.

As the chase continued, the suspect held a gun out of the driver's side window and fired several times. The deputy's patrol vehicle was struck by the gunfire.

The suspect's vehicle eventually wrecked near an apartment complex, and he ran away from the crash site. Deputies found a firearm in the driver's seat, but were unable to find him that night.

Deputies were able to contact the owner of the truck and learned the man's wife's vehicle was also broken into and her gun stolen.

Through the investigation, a teenage suspect was identified, and the teen was taken into custody during the weekend.

Criminal Interference with Government Property

Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime

Theft by Receiving Firearm

Theft by Receiving Motor Vehicle

Fleeing and Attempting to Elude

Reckless Driving

Speeding
