In this week’s podcast, I interviewed Owen Monroy, the founder of Oxygen Rally in Walnut Creek, CA at The Human Optimization Center. Owen has a background coaching collegiate volleyball, but felt like he wasn’t living his true purpose. Owen is a Human Potential Coach, a biohacker, and has extensive knowledge in health/wellness, but felt like being a volleyball coach limited his ability to truly create change within the environment and people he was directly impacting. So, instead he left and went on to create his own fitness program using oxygen training with adaptive contrast therapy at the center.

We talk all bout this therapy and why it has so much impact on athletes as well as just regular people. The type of oxygen training Owen utilizes works as the user must be moving or working out at the same time they are receiving the oxygen. Owen then puts the user in a hypoxic state temporarily or at altitude. This sends signals to the body that they need to produce more oxygen in order to keep moving at the same pace. Then, Owen will have the user switch to a super saturated state, pushing oxygen deep into the tissues.

This type of training is great for respiratory fitness, brain health, detoxification, fat-loss, immune readiness and anti-aging. Owen has had people with chronic headaches and neck pain say to them that only after three sessions, 15 minutes each, their pain has subsided and went away. I actually did a 15 minute session with Owen at his studio and found it to be one of the best workouts I’ve ever done, and I hate doing cardio and rarely do it. Not only was it fun, but I felt euphoric after completing the session, and the best part was it only took 15 minutes.
