Disruptions for air travelers continued Tuesday with more than 2,000 flights across the United States delayed or canceled after powerful storms ripped through the parts of the country, including in the Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Northeast where many busy hubs are located. Data from FlightAware showed that on Tuesday morning, 1,241 flights within, into or out of the US were delayed and another 828 were cancelled. Tuesday’s travel troubles are the fourth day in a row of delays and cancellations, which began on Saturday. The head of United Airlines, in a strongly worded memo to staff, blamed Federal Aviation Administration air traffic controller staffing problems for “unprecedented challenges” this past weekend that impacted “over 150,000 customers on United alone. Other airlines and federal agencies are blaming "severe weather" as a major cause for the nationwide travel chaos.
