DIY Gnome Update - What Worked, and What Didn't

My DIY Gnome has been outside in Minnesota all winter, and after three months it's still doing just fine. The waterproof grout I used (instead of the paper mache I use for indoor sculptures) is still hard as a rock. The artists' paint probably wasn't what I should have used, but it isn't showing any damage yet, either. But the varnish I used got really weird.

You'll find the free pattern for the gnome here: https://www.ultimatepapermache.com/gnome

Next time, I'll paint my outdoor sculptures using tips from P. David Jensen, the concrete sculpture guy: https://youtu.be/NglObgMzzcg

The patterns for the wall sculptures behind me in the video, and my new Lion King headdress mask patterns, can be found here: https://www.ultimatepapermache.com/patterns

Have you tried the waterproof grout method yet to make your own outdoor sculptures? Let us know in the comments below.
