Games journalists like Rock Paper Shotgun, Kotaku, the Verge and The Gamer have once again embarrassed themselves with their insane push for representation in video games. This time the target is Square-Enix Final Fantasy 16. What’s the complain this time? Well there seem to be a litany of gripes including but not limited to there being too may whites, not enough ethnic diversity, strong female character, and a tone deaf depiction of slavery. Whatever will the beleaguered PS5 exclusive do when faced with such accusations? Will the games director Yoshi P (Naoki Yoshida) be canceled or will this controversy push the game to new sales heights similar to J.K. Rowling and Portkey Games Hogwarts Legacy?
