Two million Muslim worshippers embark on record hajj pilgrimage

The annual Muslim pilgrimage to Hajj commenced in Mecca on Monday with more than two million worshippers expected to attend Islam’s holiest site. An official with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah told the Daily Sabah that this is anticipated to be the largest hajj pilgrimage in history. Muslims are required to embark on the hajj pilgrimage at least once in their life in accordance with the five pillars of Islam.
