Waterfall Shower Feature. NOT EASY

Start to finish stained glass herringbone pattern waterfall shower feature. A large tile 22x10 was used in this shower featuring a knee wall and bench seat as well as a waterfall glass mosaic tile stripe on the back wall, centered on the plumbing fixtures Watch as i prep the very thin glass for installation on the shower wall so that it is flush with the wall tile. Getting a glass mosaic tile feature strip to be perfectly flush with the field tile can be a challenge when the mosaic tile is thinner than the larger field tiles that it is installed next to. This is made even more difficult when the tiles are very large and thick. In this video I show how to prep the glass mosaic tile and I demonstrate how to mount the tiles to a thins sheet of tile foam Board which is 1/4" thick so the waterfall feature tile can be installed as a panel instead of individual sheets. In this case I use 1/4" Wedi but Laticrete 1/4" Hydro Ban board, or Schluter 3/16" Kerdi Board can be used to do this, the important thing is that the thin panel being used must be water safe when installed in a wet area like a shower. Another benefit of doing it this way is that you don't have to deal with excess mortar oozing through the grout lines of the mosaic because a thick bed would be needed. Leveling clips can be used as if the mosaic were just another large tile, making it easy to get it exactly flush and even with the surrounding tile. This method will work for horizontal glass mosaic tile, or vertical waterfall tile strips like in this video. Any kind of thin tile that needs to be brought out flush with the adjacent tile can be made easier using this method.
