Remembering Michael Jackson: The King of Pop Lives On
It's been 14 years since we lost Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, on June 25, 2009. He was one of the most influential and beloved artists of all time, who touched millions of lives with his music, his dance, his humanitarianism and his spirit. He was a musical genius who broke barriers and records, who inspired generations and cultures, who challenged and changed the world. He was a legend who left us too soon, but his legacy lives on.
I grew up listening to his songs, watching his videos, imitating his moves. He was my idol, my hero, my friend. He taught me how to love, how to heal, how to dream. He made me feel alive, he made me feel invincible, he made me feel human. He was the soundtrack of my life, the voice of my soul, the light of my heart.
I still remember the first time I heard "I Want You Back", the debut single of the Jackson 5. I was mesmerized by his voice, his energy, his charisma. He was only 11 years old, but he sounded like an angel. He sang with such joy and passion, he made me want to sing along. He made me want to be part of his family.
I still remember the first time I saw "Thriller", the groundbreaking video that revolutionized music and cinema. I was terrified by the zombies, the werewolves, the monsters. But I was also amazed by his dance, his style, his vision. He was a storyteller, a director, a star. He created a masterpiece that transcended genres and boundaries. He created a phenomenon that captivated the world.
I still remember the first time I felt "Man in the Mirror", the powerful ballad that challenged me to make a change. I was moved by his message, his sincerity, his courage. He was a leader, a role model, a humanitarian. He sang with such conviction and compassion, he made me want to join him. He made me want to be a better person.
I still remember the last time I saw him alive, at the press conference for his comeback tour "This Is It". I was excited by his announcement, his promise, his return. He was ready, he was confident, he was happy. He spoke with such enthusiasm and gratitude, he made me want to support him. He made me want to see him again.
But I never got the chance. He left us before he could fulfill his dream. He left us before he could share his gift. He left us before he could say goodbye.
I miss him every day. I miss his smile, his laugh, his voice. I miss his music, his dance, his spirit. I miss him more than words can say.
But I know he is not gone. He is still here with me. He is still here with us.
He is in every song he sang, every move he made, every life he touched.
He is in every memory we have, every tribute we pay, every prayer we say.
He is in every heart that loves him, every soul that feels him, every mind that remembers him.
He is always in my heart.
And I know he will be back.
He will be back in another place and time.
He will be back when we least expect it.
He will be back when we need him most.
He will be back because he never left.
He will be back because he is Michael Jackson.
And Michael Jackson is forever.
