Date – Monday, June 26th - 2023 – St. Anne

In the days of the Old Covenant, there lived a noble and pious woman named Anne. According to ancient accounts, many of Anne's ancestors belonged to a group called the Essenes. They lived simple lives, wearing humble attire and embracing a purity of customs within their marriages. Anne's birth was foretold by an angel who left a large "M" painted on the wall of her parents' room.

At the age of five, Anne was taken to the Temple and spent twelve years there, devoted to prayer and serving God. When she returned home at seventeen, she met a man named Joachim, who would later become her husband. Joachim was a man of charm and grace, and he and Anne shared a remarkable dignity and seriousness in their conduct.

Despite their virtues, Anne and Joachim faced the burden of infertility. It was considered a disgrace in those times, but unbeknownst to them, they were chosen by God for a special mission. In their advanced age, Anne miraculously conceived a child who would become the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Essenes, from whom Anne's ancestors hailed, prefigured religious life in the Church. Their devotion and separation pointed to the future calling of monks and nuns. Anne and Joachim displayed unwavering trust and hope, even in the face of apparent abandonment by God due to their infertility.

In our own lives, we may experience delays or disappointments in fulfilling our vocations or dreams. But like Anne, we must learn to trust against all appearances and hope against all odds. God's plans often require patience and unwavering faith. St. Anne serves as a model of trust, teaching us to accept waiting periods and to follow God's path with unwavering hope.

May the story of St. Anne inspire us to embrace faith, patience, and trust, even in the midst of uncertainty. In just a few hundred words, we have glimpsed the strength and grace of this remarkable woman who played a vital role in salvation history. Let us seek her intercession and learn from her example as we journey through our own lives, trusting in God's plan for us.

St. Anne, pray for us!
