WUT?!?! Ducktails 2 for under $50 at Illinois Game Con!?!

One of the most sought-after games for the NES is Ducktales 2. This is a game that was released late in the life of the Nintendo Entertainment System, which led to fewer copies being made and sold, which is why it now commonly sells for over $200 on the low side. Well, what if I told you I got a legit copy of Ducktales 2 for under $50 at the 2023 Illinois Game Con? Here's how we picked up an authentic Ducktales 2 cartridge for under $50.

For years, I have been a huge proponent of importing video games as they are often the same as their US Counterparts, but available for much less. I own multiple Famicom consoles, and also a Sharp Famicom Twin Turbo. Finally, I have a 60-to-72-pin adapter so I can play imports on my NES, and I have multiple clone systems which can play Famicom cartridges directly. This was my secret for getting Ducktales 2 for under $50.

One of the vendors I had bought from in the past had another great table with import games for the Famicom and Super Famicom, Japanese Game Boy, Famicom Disk System, and other Japanese games. Unlike European games, Japanese games utilize the NTSC video format, the same as in the USA. This means that you can play a Japanese game on the same system as long as the pins match. For NES Games, you can get an adapter that will let you play these imported Famicom games on a US NES or NES-compatible system, and those adapters are really inexpensive.

If you don't have a local store or swap meet to get import games for the Famicom, Super Famicom, or other systems, where can you find them?
