The English word "dispensation" in the Bible is the noun form of the verb "dispense" and is translated from the Greek word "oikonomia" [oy-kon-om-ee'-ah]. You might notice that this word sounds a lot like the English word "economy". It is translated "dispensation" four times and "stewardship" three times. It is the administration of someone's household or property. Or to put another way, it is the management, oversight, or dispensation, of someone's household or property.
