Submission, Biblical Counseling

Submission at first glance, reminds me of holding someone in a judo hold until they say, "I give." But Biblical submission is more like the virtue of humility. It is a willingness to accept another person as they are without trying to change them. It is a willingness to listen and take good advice. It is honoring another or preferring another. It is the opposite of rebellion. It is recognizing God's authority and God-given authority. Submission is required by God with spouses, parents, pastors, laws of the land and employers.
