Samson Post Rot Removal #svcovenant

We are tackling a new maintenance project on our sailboat Covenant, a 1982 33' Hans Christian 33t. We noticed wood decay about 9 months ago so we wrapped the area to try to keep it dry until we could get to it. In the meantime, it seems the rot spread and we realized we should have jumped on this project much earlier.

Again, we hesitated once we saw decay in both vertical pieces, plus a little 5x5" block that almost sat on the sole of the boat and appeared to be a stop block for the bowsprit. If that was the case, then we would not want to remove anything until that area was supported and secure.
